Meet Some of Our (4-legged) Friends!

Meet_Scrappy.png

Hi, I'm Scrappy!

The official greeter and ambassador of Orcas Island Getaway.

Scrappy has made his home on Orcas Island Getaway's front deck since we first took ownership in 2014.

Scrappy is a mixed-breed based on his coat and markings (not 100% sure of what), but we know he's not a purebred.  :-)

We 'rescued' him from a Ross Store on the mainland in 2013 in exchange for a small donation. As soon as we laid eyes on him, we knew he'd be going home with us. While he originally stayed with us at our home in Seattle, as soon as he visited Orcas Island, he knew he had to stay full-time.

What our guests love most about Scrappy is he is eager to welcome you to Orcas Island Getaway with a big ol' smile. When Scrappy's not greeting guests, he stays busy keeping watch over the home and making friends with other animals that visit, including the local family of deer that eat the flowering plants around the home.

Now that you've met the only full-time resident at Orcas Island Getaway, check out some of the other guests we've had the pleasure of welcoming to Orcas Island Getaway.

Hi, I'm Dakota!

"I'm an independent, sometimes-aloof 12 year old Shiba Inu who lives in West Seattle. I love taking slow walks, treats and sleeping alot.

My favorite part of Orcas Island: sniffing around the yard and house and laying in the doggie bed that was probably meant for a much bigger dog!"

Hi, I'm Belle!

Belle says:
"I'm a 1-year-old mini Australian Shepherd from Seattle, WA.

I loved my trip to Orcas Island!  I especially enjoyed our morning trips to the dog park, walking around Mountain Lake and exploring Obstruction Pass.  So many good smells! I also couldn't get enough of the super soft couch at the house!  When's our next trip?"

Hi, I'm Yeager!

Yeager says:
"I'm a well-behaved 4-year-old Golden Retriever from Portland, OR.

What I loved most about visiting Orcas Island was all the walks we were able to do! We explored Turtleback Mountain and Moran State Park. They were long days, but I was able to come back to a comfy bed and sleep the whole night through, just to do it all again the next day!"

Hi, I'm Cardiff!

Cardiff says:
"I'm a 7-1/2 year old mini Australian Shepherd from Tumwater, WA.

I loved Orcas Island Getaway!  I had so much fun! There was so much to do and smell. I got to hike around Summit Lake, watch the sun set from Rosario resort, climb up the observation tower at Mt. Constitution (which was my people's favorite). But MY favorite was Obstruction Pass. I got to swim in the water and smell all the rocks and shells. It was awesome. Each day I got to come back to a cozy place to rest. I'm still exhausted from all the fun!"

Hi, We're Sophie & Kane!

About Sophie: I'm a Schipperke/Chihuahua Mix originally from Southern California, but brought up to the Seattle area where I was adopted. They think I'm about 8 or 9 years old, but who's counting, anyway?

About Kane: I'm Sophie's big brother, Kane. I'm an 11 year old Doberman Pinscher.

What Sophie likes most about Orcas Island: "I'm told that I'm a ball full of energy, so I love going on short walks or long hikes... or even just running around in the yard - all good to me! I play chase with my brother and like hearing all the sounds of nature (I was originally from California) so this is so peaceful.

What Kane likes most about Orcas Island: "I love swimming & my favorite is swimming while mom & dad are kayaking. Sophie doesn't like to swim like I do, so she just stays in mom's kayak. People on the beach look at us and laugh because we wear life jackets too, but we don't care - we're having a blast!"
